A special post by Baby Bear!
Our first stop after the airport is a town called Mainz. We walk along the water and discover a sign showing the best wine areas’ distances and some pigeons with a blue or green band on their legs.
Next, we visited the Mainz cathedral, and Mama Bear got a quick massage from Baby Bear. We walked around the town, and came across Dom St. Martin church, where we saw a statue of a bishop (or pope, can’t figure out which) with a stabbed book who was in a “hip hop pose”.
We then go to Auerbach Castle, which is a castle near Bensheim. We then walk around and climb the tower there, find a very random bonzai-like tree with beautifully worn down roots on the castle, and learn that while most arrow holes are just slits in the wall, some of them are thermometer-shaped!

Finally, we come to our apartment (which has beautiful reddish-magenta roses over it) and settle down before going for a walk around town (surrounded by cute houses, because this is Germany) before dinner.
We look around at the restaurants and soon notice that “spargel” is on every menu we look at! Thanks to Mama Bear’s random bit of knowledge about German, she is able to translate “spargel” into “asparagus”, which seems very special to this place, so we settle down at one of the restaurants, where we get asparagus ravioli and pork schnitzel with asparagus, because basically EVERYTHING comes with asparagus, which I expect to be green. To our surprise, when our food comes, we find that the pork schnitzel comes with GIANT WHITE ASPARAGUS! I guess it is a thing! Mmm, very juicy.

I wonder what other exciting adventures we’ll have tomorrow!
well done baby bear
