One of the little-known creature discoveries is the Butterfly Garden inside the Singapore Airport. Yes, you read correctly, inside the Singapore Changi Airport.  The free garden is located inside security, so when you are waiting for your connecting flight, you can visit.  What a great activity with kids!  While it's not a very large enclosure, it has all the necessary elements. A beautiful waterfall backdrop, a dual-level entrance with a spiral staircase through the garden, cocooned butterflies in the hatchery, a walk-through cave, beautiful landscaping, and of course, many many beautiful butterflies.  

Other noteworthy elements at Changi includes a three-level tube slide, an outdoor swimming pool, and an outdoor cactus garden.  If you must layover in Asia, Singapore is a wonderful choice.
