Where They Live
The Eurasian Eagle Owl is found in forests and mountains across Europe, Asia, and North America. They are very flexible, but they usually use empty caves, ledges, or crevices in mountains, and in forests, they may use another large birds’ abandoned nest, or, in rare cases, they may simply nest on the ground. These owls live up to 20 years in the wild, but live much longer in captivity, a few even being 60 years old.
What They Eat
This large owl is a powerful hunter. They are nocturnal hunters and mainly eat rats, voles, rabbits, and sometimes fish, lizards, and other birds, but can also take down much larger prey, such as young wild boar and deer, and even foxes with their sharp, powerful talons.
