For Christmas we went to watch a well advertised horse show. It’s Cirque du Soleil meets horsemanship. This is a great show for horse lovers, you can tell that it is designed for girls aged 5-18 as that is the majority of the audience. In fact, there are twice as many women’s bathrooms as men’s, which is always a good idea, but in this case it’s a requirement for this show. The show centered around horse appreciation and did not tell much of a story. There are some highlight scenes such as four aerialists on silks pulled by four houses in a circle. It created a beautiful live carousel. Then there was actual carousel with pole dancers, but no real horses. In most other scenes, many horses would run around in various formations. But we think it could be so much more powerful if a story of “Man discovers Horse” is weaved into the scenes. As is, it was beautiful cinematography, but it was obvious that three separate groups with their own acts were hired and are performing together. We leave with the impression that the producers rather than the creative directors ran the show. But there is no doubt that the seats were filled and the set was impressive! If you have a horse lover in your life, this is a good present.
