Where They Live
The alpine Ibex can be found in France, Switzerland, Italy, Austria, Germany, and Slovenia, usually in the European Alps. They can be found at an altitude of about 1,800 to 3,300 meters, particularly in the rocky mountain slopes.
Big Horns
The hollow horns of an Alpine Ibex are made of bone on the inside, with the outside made of keratin, like your fingernails. Males are bigger and their horns are larger and more curved, while females are smaller, with horns about only 1 third the size of the males’.
